Nursing & Allied Health Scholarships are open!

The Nursing & Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme (NAHSSS) is open for applications for scholarships for continuing professional education (CPD) for conferences, short courses, workshops, seminars.

Funding is available for 2017 only. Scholarship value up to $1,500.

The scheme is an Australian Government initiative to assist nurses and midwives to further their careers through short courses, workshops or conferences.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives are encouraged to apply.

Applications are now open and will close midnight 28 February AEDT (Sydney time)

Value of Scholarship
Maximum available funding is $1,500. Funding is only available for activities conducted in Australia. All activities must commence and finish in 2017.

Selection Criteria
These are competitive scholarships and will be awarded on the recommendation of a selection committee whose assessment will be based on how you address the following questions:

How will your course benefit:
a. your nursing practice
b. your longer term goals
c. those for whom you care within your area of practice?
Describe your commitment to your area of practice.
For remote CPD applications there is an additional question:

Describe your commitment to rural and remote health and provide details of the extent of your practice in rural or remote areas.
The Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and administered by the Australian College of Nursing.

Eligibility Criteria
Applications will be considered from applicants who are:

Australian citizens or permanent residents delivering clinical services in Australia.
Participating in a short course, workshop or conference for which NMBA continuing professional development hours can be accrued.
The course selected must provide the student with greater skills and knowledge in a field of direct relevance to nursing or midwifery. (Postgraduate programs such as Graduate Certificates or Graduate Diplomas are not eligible) Please refer to postgraduate scholarships.
To be eligible to apply for the remote CPD scholarship you must be living and working in a RA 4 or RA 5 ranked area
